Cougars are a rare breed. They are strong independent women who are dating you, little cub, because they want to and for no other reason. They make their own money and live their own lives and take pride in those two facts. Aside from intelligence and a great smile, it’s hard to impress them. One thing that definitely has the ability to impress them is showing a little insight to their personalities and interests and nothing does that quite like a little date night romance with some tried and true favorite cougar movies.
This one is obvious. Young and cute Dustin Hoffman has a hot and heavy tryst with Mrs. Robinson, a friend of his parents, played by Anne Bancroft. Mrs. Robinson is tired of her loveless marriage but in no hurry to divorce and wants nothing from Dustin’s character, Ben, other than sex and little fun. Try as he might, he can’t get her to engage in anything even remotely like a relationship and eventually he marries her daughter. There is no doubt about it, Mrs. Robinson is a hot tamale with a confidence and sex appeal that still scorches the screen today. Cougars enjoy her portrayal of their namesake and watching her play the part so well reminds them of just how lucky they are.
This 80’s classic is a comedy with a cougar twist. The lovely Ms. Mallow, a French housekeeper comes to work in the home of sex crazed, 15 year old Phillip. The two are alone while his father goes on a business trip and begin a hilarious sexual affair with an ulterior motive. Ms. Mallow and the dodgy chauffeur, played by Howard Hessman, have designs on Phillips trust fund and hilarity ensues. This flick is a fun little romp into a cougar-esque world of teasing, foreplay and fantasy.
Another 1980’s gem, My Tutor focuses on the sexy complications that arise when high school senior, Bobby fails his French class and won’t be able to attend Yale in the fall. His bent on success father hires a gorgeous tutor to help him brush up for his make-up test. Bobby’s friends spend the summer pursuing all kinds of wacky ways to lose their virginity when all the while Bobby has everything he needs to accomplish that goal right in his summer school class.
This one is an all around chick flick. Almost every woman of every age finds something they can relate to in this film from the early 90’s. Two gals fed up with the men in their lives take off on a cross country road trip and encounter all sorts of trouble. The sexy scene between Geena Davis and a very young, muscled up, cowboy version of Brad Pitt gets a cougars motor running pretty quick.
This Angela Bassett film from 1998 is popular with cougars because its about a woman in their age bracket. Not just any woman but a downtrodden and depressed woman who works to much and relaxes too little. She takes a vacation to Jamaica. Stella finds herself enmeshed in much more than a game of trivial pursuit with a hot, young islander and forces herself to reconcile both the businesslike serious side of herself as well as the long ignored sexy side.
Twenty something Max has tragically lost his beloved wife when he meets forty something waitress, Nora. She’s fixated on Marilyn Monroe which makes for some fun scenes but this movies magic lies in the growing sexual heat between the two. They fight societies stigmas along with other external pressures as they fall in love despite their age difference.
Fifteen year old Oscar falls in love with his gorgeous stepmom, played by Sigourney Weaver in this 2000 film that touches on more than a few social taboos. Oscar is pretty debonair for 15 and displays a personality far above his years. On the train home from boarding school he makes up his mind to win the love of Eve his step-mother over Thanksgiving weekend. Sometimes funny, sometimes irreverent, and always touching this film gets cougars where it counts.
Planning a romantic date night with your cougar is a great idea but one that includes a cougar friendly movie is a smart move indeed. They are proud of their station in life and all they’ve achieved and that includes you. The right film can show them that you are just as proud of them and your relationship as she is.
